Job Overview:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution
of multiple revenue streams, including retail products, brand partnerships, event sponsorships,
affiliate marketing, paid community membership, and social media monetization. This role
blends strategy with hands-on execution and is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems
from the ground up.
Working closely with the Managing Director, and the Marketing & Communications Manager, the
successful candidate understands both nonprofit values and business revenue models and can
translate audience engagement into sustainable income.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Strategy & Planning
● Develop and implement an internally-driven revenue strategy aligned with organizational
goals
● Set quarterly and annual revenue targets and track performance against KPIs
● Identify new monetization opportunities across digital, community, and partnership
channels
Retail Products & Merchandising
● Lead the launch and management of digital and physical retail products
● Coordinate product ideation, pricing, fulfillment, and promotion
● Analyze sales performance and optimize offerings
● Lead packaging and delivery team (volunteers and/or staff)
Brand Partnerships & Sponsorships
● Identify, pitch, and secure brand partnerships and event sponsorships
● Create partnership decks, proposals, and pricing packages
● Manage partner relationships and ensure fulfillment of sponsorship benefits
Digital Monetization
● Lead Google Ad campaigns
● Build and manage affiliate marketing programs
● Monetize social media channels (YouTube) in mission-aligned ways
● Collaborate with content and marketing teams to optimize conversion
Paid Community Membership
● Oversee strategy and growth for paid community or membership offerings
● Improve onboarding, retention, and member experience
● Monitor churn, engagement, and lifetime value
● Collaborate with Community Engagement team
Collaboration & Reporting
● Work cross-functionally with leadership, marketing, and program teams
● Provide regular revenue reports, insights, and recommendations
● Ensure all revenue activities align with nonprofit compliance and ethical standards
What Success Looks Like:
● Launch 2–3 sustainable revenue streams
● Secure and manage mission-aligned brand partnerships and event sponsors
● Establish clear revenue systems and reporting
● Build a repeatable, ethical and sustainable revenue model
Skills & Experience:
● 4–7+ years of experience in revenue growth, partnerships, business
development, or digital monetization
● Experience launching and managing multiple revenue streams (e.g., products,
sponsorships, memberships)
● Strong understanding of digital marketing, social platforms, and audience monetization
● Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
● Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently in a small organization
● Familiarity with CRM tools, email marketing platforms, and analytics dashboards
● Cultural competence and alignment with BMC’s mission and communities served
