About the role

Job Description:

This role (Senior Therapist) is assessed as a Resident position requiring minimal days in the office (4 days per week) unless business demands require.

Job Summary:
Under the leadership of the Clinical Supervisor, the Senior Therapist is responsible for participating in the intake and assessment process and then providing oversite of the development of client treatment plans and monitoring the progress of programs and interventions.. The Senior Therapist is also responsible for providing supervision and training to a team of Instructor Therapists.

You will be scheduled to rotate, once per month, for weekend shift work. You will be entitled to stipulate your scheduling preferences via a roster system. You will be required to work out of other Kinark sites from time to time based on operational needs. As well, you may be assigned to work in different programs and services within the Autism division of Kinark and your primary work location may be reassigned within a 50 kilometer radius based on operational needs.

This is a temporary full-time position with a contract length of 1 year.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Client Services – conduct and oversee curricular, functional, and behavioural client assessments, and create treatment and behaviour management plans ensuring needs of clients and family are met. Develop curriculum, provide ongoing analysis, and make treatment program adjustments as necessary. Prepare reports on client progress and meet with parents to report on progress. Provide training for parents on the principles of applied behavioral analysis and establish client specific goals.

  • Site Management – work in collaboration with internal and external building/site management personnel to ensure a clean, safe and accessible workspace that meets clients needs.

  • Service Coordination – work with other service providers and community professionals for collaborative treatment planning.

  • Administration / Other – ensure all required documentation is in place and kept up to date. Administration also includes ensuring appropriate staffing is in place for all clients.

  • Staff Supervision – Provide support and guidance to a team of Instructor Therapists. Support the hiring process, provide training on how to implement behavioral interventions, administration related to the supervision of staff (scheduling, timecard approval, performance management), conduct performance appraisals and staff evaluations on delivery of services, and provide ongoing coaching and professional development support.

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree* in psychology or related field is preferred.**
  • Consideration will be given to candidates completing the final year of their Masters who have more than 3 years’ experience implementing ABA with children and adolescents with ASD, have extensive report and skill acquisition program writing skills, and experience training staff in IBI.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) intervention approaches for the treatment of children/youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Proven assessment, direct service, clinical and program supervision skills.
  • Travel is required for this position, the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
