**Position Purpose:**The Seasonal Graphics Designer is responsible for producing artwork for printed materials, for design, production and installation of new signage and graphics as well as updating existing signage and graphics as required on the Zoo site. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan.

##Core Role Responsibilities:

• Designs, produces and maintains various signage used on site including, but not limited to: animal interpretive, vehicle, wayfinding, guest relations, food services, administration building, road, parking, retail and safety signage.
• Periodically installs signage and graphics on the Zoo site.
• Ensures Zoo branding is maintained on all projects.
• Designs and produces special animal print projects such as booklets, brochures and posters.
• Ensure all projects are completed within the assigned graphics production schedules.
• Keeps current on trends and best practices including, but not limited to: industry changes, materials, methods, technology, equipment, etc.
• Follows all policies and branch instructions.
• Attends appropriate training courses as required.

##Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• Must be a graduate of a post-secondary program specializing in graphic design or the equivalent amount of training and related experience.
• Must have 2 years of proven experience in the same or similar position (in graphic design or sign design).
• Must have a working knowledge of Apple Mac computer platforms.
• Must be proficient in Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Must be able to communicate ideas and concepts to the Supervisor and other Zoo staff.
• Must have a digital portfolio of design and production work.
• Must possess some knowledge of sign production techniques and the various sign substrates.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and prioritize work.
• Must have proven organizational ability and be able to work within set deadlines.
• Must ensure all applicable licenses and certificates remain valid and in good standing. Copies of licenses and certificates to be provided at time of hire and upon renewal.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong communications skills.
• Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation.
• Must possess an unrestricted Class G driver’s license valid in the Province of Ontario along with a good driving record.
• Must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized programs and systems.
• Must be able to work weekends, shifts and holidays as scheduled.
• Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position.
