The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Environment CGL, this position is responsible for providing environmental planning and permitting support to CGL Projects during all phases of development – prospecting to implementation. Key roles will include developing and executing environmental protection and permitting strategies; providing support and technical expertise to Project teams and colleagues; directing and overseeing technical consultants; and implementing Environment Program standards and applicable control procedures consistently across Projects to ensure that project activities are planned, developed and constructed in compliance with corporate environmental policies, asset management objectives, and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and execute environmental assessments, support federal, provincial and local environmental permitting, and environmental compliance activities for projects to manage environmental and commercial constraints and compressed timelines.
  • Provide technical environmental advice to inform risk identification and mitigation strategies, environmental mitigation and contingency planning in compliance with TC Energy’s Environment Program, and the applicable regulatory, commercial and contractual requirements.
  • Provide direction to external contractors, and business partners to ensure overall corporate and project objectives are met.
  • Provide oversight, advice of TC Energy’s Environment Program as well as performance and continuous improvement measures.
  • Champion HS&E Commitment and underlying principles throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with key internal groups responsible for land, community relations, Indigenous relations, regulatory, legal, and safety to identify and resolve issues, execute project execution plans and schedules, and support the integration of environment appropriately into project planning.
  • Maintains overview of broad project objectives and direction and reassesses and charts new courses as necessary.
  • Recruits and manages consultants; prepares Request for Proposals and evaluates bids; negotiates consultants' work scope, budget, and schedule; provides ongoing management of consultants' work.
  • Documents, communicates, and reports environmental issues, incidents of non-conformance and non-compliance, and opportunities for improvement.
