POSITION SCOPE

Scherrer Project Engineers assist Project Managers with activities from bid to closeout, and maintain good relations with the project team for our commercial construction division. They are responsible for coordinating and assisting with various tasks, including buyout and scoping of subcontractors, obtaining permits, and writing subcontracts. The Project Engineer will also review submittals, ensure compliance with contract documents, and analyze change documents. They will participate in a variety of activities including project closeout, job site safety, and assist with job site supervision as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Estimators with activities from bidding and budgeting to project startup

  • Assist team of Project Managers with activities from project startup to closeout

  • Maintain good relations with the project team of Owner, Project Manager, Estimator, Project Coordinator, Superintendent, and Subcontractors

  • Assist PM/Estimating with:

  • Estimating/bidding

  • Buyout and scoping of subcontractors and vendors

  • Writing subcontracts

  • Obtaining permits

  • Schedule, attend, and record notes at key project meetings

  • Assist with job site supervision as needed

  • Verify material deliveries and installed work

  • Assist in Project QA/QC

  • Participate in jobsite safety including meetings, walks, and other related activities

  • Assist PM / Superintendent with issue resolution

  • Professionally represent the Scherrer Construction team and brand

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Understanding of construction terminology, processes, materials, and workflow.
  • A general understanding of construction methods.
  • Detail-oriented and task-focused.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, associates, vendors, contractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Computer proficiency using industry-standard software and applications.
  • Must be a committed team player.
