Our innovative products, including exterior cladding and interior ceiling systems, set industry standards for durability, aesthetics, and sustainability. We take pride in transforming commercial and residential spaces into stunning, sustainable environments.

About the Role

Longboard is seeking an experienced Team Lead Software Engineer with strong Python expertise to lead a small team of developers supporting our manufacturing and business operations. Reporting to the Business Systems Manager, this role plays a critical part in designing, building, and maintaining software solutions that power inventory management, factory workflow, shipping processes, ERP synchronization, and customer-facing applications.

You will collaborate closely with operations business analyst liaisons and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and efficient technical solutions. In addition to hands-on development, you will oversee backlog refinement, provide task estimation, conduct code reviews, and guide release planning to ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with Longboard’s operational goals.

This is a leadership role that combines technical excellence, strategic thinking, and team mentorship in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

About You

You are a highly skilled Python engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and leading others to success. You balance hands-on coding with team leadership and take pride in writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

You bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with strong expertise in Python and ReactJS
  • 5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries
  • 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring a development team
  • Strong testing and debugging skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Experience working with JIRA and managing backlogs

Nice to have:

  • ERP integration experience, ideally with Acumatica
  • CRM integration experience, ideally Salesforce
  • FastAPI experience
  • Jenkins experience
  • Docker or Kubernetes experience
  • AWS experience
  • YAML configuration experience
  • Zebra enterprise browser or ZPL for barcode and label formatting
  • ARGO experience

You are collaborative, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams. You thrive in environments where operational efficiency, innovation, and scalability matter.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a small team of developers, distributing and prioritizing tasks within JIRA
  • Review and refine the JIRA backlog alongside the Business Systems Manager
  • Provide accurate task estimates and support sprint and release planning
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient software solutions
  • Develop and maintain applications supporting manufacturing operations, ERP integrations, APIs, and internal and external web platforms
  • Identify system bottlenecks and resolve defects
  • Write clean, well-documented code and maintain technical documentation in Confluence
  • Test and polish solutions prior to production release
  • Collaborate with product managers, analysts, designers, and stakeholders to align technical outcomes with business objectives
  • Support future integrations, including Salesforce for order and product management
  • Contribute innovative ideas to continuously improve systems and processes
  • Our current tech stack includes Python, ReactJS, MySQL, and Kubernetes on AWS, with architectural and monitoring support shared with an external consultant.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Salary Range: $95,000 – $115,000 CAD annually, based on experience.
  • Profit Sharing Program: Rewarding your contribution to Longboard’s success.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health Spending and Lifestyle Spending Accounts, catastrophic coverage, travel insurance, and more.
