About CAWIC - Canadian Association of Women in Construction
Breaking barriers. Building futures. Leading change across Canada’s construction industry.
The construction industry is stronger when women are part of it.
Every time a woman steps onto a site, leads a project, designs a structure, or builds a career in construction, the industry grows stronger. CAWIC is the national voice of women in construction — not just a member network, but a driver of industry-wide change.
We create that change through mentorship, leadership opportunities, and community. Our programs include bursaries, education, networking, advocacy, and partnerships that connect women with resources and each other. From apprentices and students to executives and entrepreneurs, we support women at every stage of their careers — building pathways to success and shaping a stronger, more equitable industry.
Each year, we bring the community together at our National Conference, a showcase of women’s leadership, innovation, and impact in construction. The conference connects professionals, industry partners, and allies from across Canada, offering a platform to share knowledge, build networks, and celebrate those who are breaking barriers and leading change.
Our story began in 1982, when a group of women in Toronto formed a chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. In 2005, we incorporated as the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC). Today, guided by our values of respect, inclusivity, fairness, integrity, accountability, and professionalism, we continue that legacy as the leading voice for women in construction across Canada.
Together, we are breaking barriers, building futures, and transforming the construction industry for the better.
