Summary The CLBPA is a comprehensive CLB-based language assessment with in-person and remote processes designed for placement of eligible learners into government-funded language training classes. The CLBPA has replaced the older tools as the main language assessment used across Canada. Working with the Ontario Language Assessment Training and Support (OLATS) team, the Regional Trainer will provide effective and measurable training, certification and support for language assessors on all delivery modes of the CLBPA. Applicants must reside in Ontario and be familiar with the language assessment sector in Ontario Region.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend online train-the-trainer sessions and team meetings
  • Assist in preparation of training materials, including constructing modules and designing courses as directed by the Project Manager
  • Collaborate with training team as needed
  • Deliver effective and measurable online training sessions for the administration of Streamlined CLBPA and CLBPA RWA
  • Provide effective coaching and constructive feedback to trainees
  • Facilitate support sessions and professional development workshops when required
  • Complete comprehensive training reports following each session
  • Work with the training team to provide a unified response to inquiries related to assessment tool construct, content, administration and scoring principles
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend modifications to training model
  • Participate in the production of training videos, including scriptwriting, onsite filming and identification of suitable video clips
  • Participate in platform testing, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager

Qualifications

  • Certification, demonstrated knowledge of, and minimum five (5) years experience in adult language assessment using CLBA and/or CLBPT
  • Successful completion of CLBPA Training including Certification Part 1-3
  • Demonstrated experience delivering CLBPA Training required
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field
  • Recognized TESL Qualifications
  • Certification in other CLB-based language assessments preferred (CLBA-LL, CLB-LPT, ELTPA, WLA, BTC, BTC-AMA)
  • Knowledge of language assessment sector in Ontario
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian Language Benchmarks
  • Knowledge and experience in instructional design an asset
  • Good understanding of National Language Placement and Progression Guidelines
  • Excellent presentation style and ability to communicate effectively
  • Solid grasp of group dynamics and adult learning principles
  • Diplomacy in feedback provision and coaching
  • Sensitivity to the diverse needs of adult learners
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to train independently
  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English
  • Demonstrated adaptability for multiple training sessions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet research
  • Familiarity with electronic media (videoconferencing, Zoom, Teams, webinar platforms for training purposes, Articulate)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule depending on project needs
  • Ability to travel to different sites for videotaping
