Position Description
We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Clinical Research Project Assistant (CPRA) to join our team at the Child Health Evaluative Sciences (CHES) program in the Research Institute at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. This is a casual role (up to 10 hours/week) beginning with a 6-month contract. Under the supervision of Drs. Peter Gill and Sanjay Mahant (Scientists, SickKids RI and Departments of Paediatrics), the CRPA will play a central role in advancing an outcomes-based research program dedicated to improving outcomes for hospitalized children across Ontario and beyond.
In particular, the successful candidate would work with the newly developed GEMINI-Paediatrics data platform using routinely generated clinical and administrative data from hospital information systems. The candidate will assist in the development of detailed study protocols and analytic plans using the GEMINI-Pediatrics dataset, conduct data analyses, and draft and prepare manuscripts. Here's What You'll Get To Do:
- Work as part of a team to develop detailed study protocols, and analytic plans.
- Prepare output of analyses for review, including graphs, tables and interpretations of results
- Data quality monitoring, and preparation of data summaries for investigator meetings.
- Data management and cleaning, analysis, and presentation of results in tables and figures, and preparation of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed research journals.
- Draft and revise manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals in consultation with Principal Investigators, data analysts, and collaborators.
- Conduct literature reviews and manage bibliographies to support study publications.
- Prepare all aspects of grant and manuscript submissions, including references, appendices, and reporting documents.
- Contribute to knowledge translation activities, including presentations, reports, and dissemination of findings to clinicians, hospital leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders.
Here's What You'll Need:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field, with at least 1 year of clinical research experience.
- Strong knowledge of study design, research methodology, and health data analytics.
- Evidence of quantitative health data analysis skills, including coursework and practical experience.
- Proficiency with a statistical software application (R, Stata, SAS)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience preparing research proposals, reports, and presentations.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong motivation and enthusiasm to contribute to building a leading research team focused on improving children's health.
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.
