POSITION: LPN ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR

TYPE: Casual - scheduled or call-in as needed LOCATION: Yarmouth, NS

POSITION SCOPE:

The Meadows is a 105 bed Long Term Care Facility that is undergoing an exciting transformation in creating self-directed and empowered neighborhood teams that focus on principles of resident centered care. The primary purpose of the position is to serve the Residents by attending to their medical needs throughout the day and night and to provide leadership, guiding and teaching to other roles (CCA/LPN) and work collaboratively with neighborhood team members. The LPN Assistant supervisor will perform duties in accordance with the Mission Statement, Standards, Policies and Procedures of The Meadows (TVM). The position requires the successful candidate to be available for all shifts – days, nights, weekends and holidays and call-in’s. While our mask and Covid vaccination mandates have been lifted, you may be required to wear a mask for the duration of a shift in the event of an outbreak. We also encourage our Care Team members to be vaccinated against the Covid and Flu viruses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum requirement – LPN currently licensed in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • Preferred Minimum 6 months to 1 (one) year recent relevant experience administering meds required.
  • Preferred Minimum two years nursing experience required where good nursing judgment, leadership and management abilities have been demonstrated.
  • Demonstrated sincere willingness and passion to engage and participate with those who live in our home and lead others to enhance resident’s social, emotional, physical and spiritual needs.
  • Preferred experience in dealing with the elderly, including clients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
  • Completed Pharmacology through the LPN Core Program or through a post-graduate course approved by the Practical Nurses Licensing Board.
  • Must be well organized and be able to initiate workload and work independently. To work within your scope of practice and work closely with the Supervisors team.
  • Preferred previous management/supervisory experience.
  • Must have or be willing to take CPR certification, the Alzheimer’s disease and Related Dementia Care course, and other courses that are offered or required.
  • Must have the ability to work in harmony as a member of the multidisciplinary team, lead and direct the Neighborhood Team, be an example by promoting and upholding all policies and have the ability to take an active role in coaching and supervising staff while maintaining a positive attitude,
  • Be reliable and available to attend work.
  • As a member of the Care Team, all individuals may be responsible for care duties of facility pets
  • The ability to use computers and scheduling system.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a busy environment.
