About the role
- Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold dishes, including meats, vegetables, soups, and salads, following standardized recipes and portion sizes.
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with management and other kitchen staff to develop and adjust menus based on seasonal availability, customer demand, and store promotions.
- Maintaining Food Quality: Ensure that all food is cooked and presented to the highest standards of quality, taste, and appearance, following food safety guidelines.
- Ingredient Management: Monitor inventory of ingredients, and restock or order items as necessary to maintain sufficient levels for daily operations.
- Food Safety and Sanitation: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Safely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, grills, and slicers, and ensure that all equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly.
- Managing Workstations: Keep workstations clean and organized throughout the shift, ensuring proper hygiene practices and efficient workflow.
- Portion Control and Waste Reduction: Follow portion control standards to minimize food waste while maintaining consistency in product quality and presentation.
- Collaborating with Team: Work closely with other kitchen staff and manager to ensure smooth operation during busy periods, and assist in training new cooks or kitchen helpers.
- Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers to answer questions about prepared foods, accommodate special requests, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assisting with Catering Orders: Prepare and package foods for catering or special events, ensuring that orders are accurate, properly labeled, and ready for pickup or delivery.
- Monitoring Food Safety: Regularly check food temperatures, expiration dates, and storage practices to comply with food safety regulations and prevent contamination.
- Other duties as required.
