As we continue with our continuous growth strategy, we are seeking a Full Time Civil Superintendent to join our Fort McMurray Project team and be an integral part of our future success. These projects are based on our Suncor Base Plant location. This is a project-based position that will start with a 10-day on, 2-day off or 8-day on and 6-day off rotation schedule but may change based on project needs. Accommodation may be provided and LOA. Strong consideration given to Local Fort McMurray Residents
The successful candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert in Underground Utilities, especially in Industrial Sewer This is a site-based position.
Reporting directly to the Civil Projects Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all underground Utility / Sewer projects including excavation and underground repairs and new construction. The position requires a strong leader/manager with excellent technical, communication, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and liaising with Clients Reliability Engineers and coordinators.
Responsibilities:
- Management of all site operations related to Underground Utilities
- Work collaboratively with Clients Operations, Reliability Engineers, and Coordinators on technical clarification, SOW, job planning, resource (labor) planning, equipment scheduling, and material estimation to execute the job safely
- Support project Coordinators on preparing bid and turnover (TO) packages
- Review and identify potential changes required
- Ensure construction work complies with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions
- Act as an SME in developing EHS plan, Hazard ID, and JHA for new underground job scopes
- Provide leadership, management, and accountability for SOW and all direct reports
The successful candidate MUST have extensive experience with:
- Underground Utilities – Repair, construction, maintenance
- Sewer – Repair, construction, maintenance
- Shoring boxes
- Excavation
- Hydro-vac
- HDPE pipe fusing
Qualification and Skills
- A minimum of 10+ years related experience as a Superintendent or Foreman overseeing Underground Utility / Sewer Projects
- Strong commitment to Safety
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license and the willingness to travel
- Ability to read and understand engineered drawings and specifications.
- Computer Literacy. Proficient in Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Prior work experience at Suncor Base Plant will be considered an asset
