Purpose We are currently recruiting for a Principal Mechanical Designer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Kingston, Ontario.
- Ensure all design work performed adjusts to quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.
- Ensure all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the client, or to agreed industry standards.
Responsibilities

Deliver design activities that meet Worley, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.

Perform design activities as well as: participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures;

Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes;

If responsible for a team:
-
Outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress.

Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.

Communicate effectively with the project team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.

Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
What You Will Bring Technical and Industry Experience:
-
Working experience in the following areas:
-
Machine component design.
-
Equipment and machinery design.
-
Modification of equipment.
-
Tooling, prototyping and fabrication.
-
Equipment layout and assembly.
-
Piping Design.
-
Process equipment.
-
Highly effective technical and practical design skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.

A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of mechanical design, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
-
A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
-
Competent use of 3D design tools (ie. Solidworks, Inventor, Aveva E3D, NavisWorks, and Microstation).

Experienced in development of 2D and 3D CAD drawings and deliverables to support fabrication.

Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
Required Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Certificate from recognized design program or technical college.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Candidates must be able to travel.
For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $116,034 to $156,987 CAD. Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
