Your Opportunity:
Myron Thompson Health Centre is in a rural community in west central Alberta. RNs work in a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care in a blended acute/ER and continuing care environment. This environment is suitable for candidates who enjoy the challenge of providing a broad spectrum of nursing care and who have experience in such settings as ER, med-surg, cardiac. The incumbent is also depended upon for leadership to LPNs and Health Care Attendants in caring for our acute and long-term care clients. Myron Thompson Health Centre is an intimate team environment providing care with 14 acute care beds, 5 long term care beds, 4 restorative beds and a five-stretcher emergency department. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and problem solving ability in a charge nurse role in an acute care setting. Significant experience in preferably multiple acute clinical settings such as ER, acute care, med-surg, cardiac. Demonstrated achievement in continual professional development and maintaining clinical competence. Current completion of the following AHS facilitated con-ed or other employer equivalency is advantageous in this competition. Internal applicants, submit a MLL education summary. - It’s Your Move Continuing Care Health Service Standards. Reporting and Learning System for Patient Safety. Patient and Family Centered Care 101. Appropriate use of Antipsychotics or Understanding Responsive Behaviors or Supportive Pathways. Emergency Response Codes. Palliative Care – Death Dying and Dementia or LEAP or Palliative Care 101. Anaphylaxis protocol review. Annual Continuing Education. Infection prevention and control (IPC) is everyone’s business. IV pump certification. Procedural Sedation Qualifying exam. Informed consent basics. Informed consent – adults with impaired capacity/ minors and mature minors. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including shift work. ACLS, TNCC, MOREOB, NRP, Lead 2 cardiac monitoring and CTAS are preferred. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office.
