About the role
Pay Rate: $23 to $25 per hour (depending on Experience)
Full Time
Midnight shift, Thursday to Sunday

LTL freight

minimum of a high school diploma – grade 12 or equivalent;
-
minimum of two years experience in a similar role;
-
ability to operate types of specialized equipment - clamp truck, paper clamp, boom (provided
training); -
basic literacy skills – read, write and speak English;
-
basic math skills;
-
knowledge on the operation of heaters – nose mount/portable;
-
certified forklift operator;
-
Dangerous Goods certificate;
-
WHMIS training;
-
attention to detail;
-
good organizational skills and the ability to meet target times;
-
good communication skills.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- handles, transports and unloads freight of all kinds using a variety of material handling
equipment;
- performs inspection of all freight during the stripping process and cross-reference bills to the
shipment;
- must scale all stripped freight prior to staging;
- ensure freight is staged in correct location as per the bills or manifest;
- initial bills once the inspection is complete;
- record any discrepancies on the bills and notify the supervisor immediately;
- ensure that freight is properly identified;
- must maintain a safe and orderly workplace and report any unsafe acts and conditions, accidents
and injuries to the immediate supervisor;
- once unloading is complete, clean (sweep) out the trailer of any debris, dirt, etc;
- remove placard trailers as required;
- assisting the OS&D Department when required;
- responsible for the safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor and proper
storage of dunnage;
- take pictures of damaged freight;
- perform and record daily inspections of forklift prior to usage;
- rack and tarp flatbed trailers;
- hand bombing and sorting freight;
- housekeeping and keeping tarps neatly piled up;
- chain or strap loads and secure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
In this function, the employee is required to walk and/or stand and frequent lifting is required up
