ROLE OVERVIEW
The League Manager is the operational core of the Brodie League. You’re the person captains rely on, the reason game nights run seamlessly, and the standard every league night is held to. You anticipate problems before they surface, hold every game night to a premium standard, and treat every gym like it reflects the Brodie brand. This is a hands-on, varied role ideal for someone who enjoys being in the middle of live action, is deeply involved in league operations, and is looking to build a long-term career within a growing sports organization.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Season Operations Build and manage an airtight season schedule across all divisions, gyms, and time slots Own team placement, division balancing, and captain onboarding from day one Run game nights at a premium standard: the right refs, the right setup, zero chaos Manage standings, stats, and weekly results with accuracy and speed Execute playoffs and championship events that players talk about for years Captain & Team Experience Be the highest-quality point of contact captains have ever had in a rec league Respond fast, follow through every time, and make captains feel like they matter Anticipate problems before captains even notice them Own the retention playbook: the experience should be so good, re-signing is a no-brainer Facilities & Logistics Hold gym partners to the same standard we hold ourselves Book and manage court time so nothing is ever scrambled or last-minute Show up to every game night like the venue is a reflection of the brand, because it is Data & Reporting Track registrations, capacity, and team health weekly Spot issues early and act on them before they become problems Keep leadership informed with clear, accurate updates REQUIREMENTS Must have: 1+ years in operations, events, or a customer-facing role where quality was the standard A track record of making people feel genuinely well taken care of Availability for evenings and weekends, game nights are non-negotiable Communication that is fast, clear, and professional every time Genuine love for basketball and the culture around it Nice to have: Background in premium sports, hospitality, or client driven service environments Network in your location’s local basketball or rec sports community You've played in or captained a competitive rec league Experience managing vendors, facilities, or partner relationships COMPENSATION DISCLOSURE The expected total annual compensation for this role is $90,000-100,000 CAD inclusive of commission. Compensation is based on skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
