Position Overview
As the Director of Sales, you hold a strategic leadership position within our establishment. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading and energizing our sales and marketing team to drive the hotel’s revenue performance.

  • Lead the creation and execution of The Clayfield’s pre-opening and opening sales strategy, defining target markets, positioning, and revenue goals for a successful launch.
  • Develop refined pricing, distribution, and partnership strategies aligned with the hotel standards and ownership objectives.
  • Cultivate key relationships within the travel, corporate, and event sectors to establish The Clayfield as Niagara-on-the-Lake’s premier boutique destination.
  • Partner closely with marketing, revenue management, and operations to ensure cohesive brand storytelling and performance alignment from day one.

Sales Management

  • Lead and inspire the sales team to achieve revenue and market share goals through targeted strategies and proactive engagement.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain business opportunities across group, transient, and corporate segments.
  • Oversee the full sales cycle — proposals, contracts, correspondence, and reporting — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and brand alignment.
  • Partner with the Urgo Hotels regional team to optimize business performance and leverage shared resources.
  • Analyze sales metrics and market data to drive occupancy, RevPAR, and overall profitability.
  • Play an active role in revenue management through forecasting, pricing strategy, and performance review meetings.
  • Ensure exceptional client satisfaction and relationship management before, during, and after each engagement.
  • Manage departmental budgets, cost controls, and inventory to support efficient operations.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team with clear goals, task assignments, and professional development plans.
  • Support the planning and executing of events, ensuring seamless communication with banquet and operations teams.
  • Guide and oversee the Sales team activities, balancing proactive outreach with reactive client service to meet business objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in hotel sales;
  • Strong guest service skills;
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities;
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is an asset;
  • Knowledge of management principles and relevant computer systems;
  • Working knowledge of the local Niagara market is an asset;
  • Understanding of market analysis, customer segmentation, distribution networks, advertising, and social media marketing.
