THE RENFREW COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
requires a
HELP DESK SUPPORT SPECIALIST
LOCATION: Board Administration Office, Pembroke
SCHEDULE: 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week, 12 months per year
RATE OF PAY: $29.56- $30.38 per hour (Group 7)
POSITION SUMMARY: As a key member of the Information, Communication Technology Department, the Help Desk Support Specialist logs, investigates and resolves front line user technical problems or refers the issue to the appropriate 2nd or 3rd level support.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school (Grade 12) graduation, plus a two-year diploma in Information Technology is required. Over six months, up to and including one year of related experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong technical knowledge of hardware, software, operating systems, networking and peripherals in multi-user LAN/WAN environments. Sound knowledge of call ticketing systems.
- Comprehensively use productivity suite software including Google Workspace for Education Plus and Microsoft Office.
- Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate integrity, initiative and enthusiasm in achieving results.
- Succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Work effectively independently as well as in a team environment.
- Make appropriate, realistic and timely decisions based on consideration of facts and alternatives.
- Direct activities towards timely completion of assigned tasks; adjust priorities as required; adapt to constant interruptions; and changing focus between departments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with particular attention to detail.
- Handle sensitive and confidential material with discretion and ensure protection of information.
- Focus on providing excellent customer service by identifying and meeting customer needs, using processes and procedures that are customer oriented and seeking solutions to resolve service issues.
- Adapt to changes in process, systems and organizational structures.
- Knowledge of applicable corporate/departmental policies and procedures including occupational health and safety.
Hiring will follow the requirements outlined in the CUPE 1321 Collective Agreement and the RCDSB Administrative Procedures. Members of the bargaining unit will be given first consideration. The Board reserves the right not to fill a position.
