Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership of the department, ensuring close collaboration and alignment of operating model with other departments within the Open Ended segment;
  • Ensure alignment and collaboration between onshore and offshore teams such that the client service delivery quality is maintained and improved;
  • Serve as the service delivery lead for the clients in your jurisdiction;
  • Serve as the primary accountable owner for service quality to external and internal clients and for any material escalations from clients relating to service delivery
  • Ensure service delivery issues and challenges in your area are managed and dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Drive the implementation of efficiencies in the operational area by improving the technical skills of people, improving the controls of processes, and increasing the automation of operations with technology solutions such as RPA and other automation solutions;
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements/Outsourcing Agreements for all new/existing clients are in place.
  • Ensure the delivery of services to external and internal clients in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements/Outsourcing Agreements.
  • Ensure all operational controls, policies, and standard operating procedures relevant to your area are adhered to.
  • Monitor operational risk for your area by ensuring incidents are managed, recorded and dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Implement internal controls to strengthen control framework and to reduce operational and business risks for your area.
  • Ensure audit findings for your area of responsibility are appropriately responded to and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure business/IT projects impacting your area supported by appropriate staff from each functional team.
  • Develop strong and trusted relationships with external and internal clients, and set and maintain the standard for the quality of the departments engagement with clients;
  • Demonstrate technical and management leadership in the subject of Fund Accounting, and be a key representative of Apex on this with clients, auditors, and industry bodies;
  • Manage operational costs to ensure alignment with budgets;
  • Track actual revenue for your area (including fee share under outsourcing agreements) to ensure alignment with budgets;
  • Ensure experienced staff are recruited at all levels in your area to discharge daily functional activities of their responsible teams
  • Manage and build out operational key performance indicators (‘KPIs’), targets and measures of success for the area and manage performance against these; and deliver towards them;
  • Produce monthly management reporting packs detailing operational key performance indicators for your area.
  • Provide support to the Business Development team on pricing of new deals to ensure your business unit targets are met.
  • Line manage and support functional team Managers on operational queries escalated.

Skill Required:

  • University degree preferred - accounting, finance, business or economics (or overseas equivalent)
  • Professional accounting designation preferred (CPA, CMA, CA, ACCA etc.)
  • Experience in a similar role with at least 12 – 15 years’ experience within the funds industry
  • Strong industry knowledge with proven management experience
  • An ability to work to and meet agreed deadlines
  • Highly organized and motivated individual with an acute attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP as applicable to Funds
  • Familiarity with the accounting system is a major plus (Paxus and Geneva)
  • Detailed knowledge & understanding of securities and other financial instruments.
  • Computer proficiency with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to think critically and objectively
  • Have the drive to work toward continuous improvement
  • The flexibility and willingness to work additional hours if required
