About the role

Position Summary

We are on the lookout for an energetic Casino Porter with an “all about the guest” attitude. Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, the successful candidate will ensure the cleanliness of the casino and public areas to maintain outstanding experiences for casino guests. Must be collaborative, excel at multi-tasking and display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Contributes to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures. Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with Casino Nova Scotia’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.

Key Accountabilities

  • General and specialized cleaning duties in all casino areas including gaming floor, kitchens, and other back of house areas
  • Responsible for heavy lifting including maneuvering heavy cleaning equipment
  • Works with cleaning chemicals and operates various cleaning equipment
  • Provides an exceptional experience for casino internal and external guest s as this position is a high guest contact position
  • Responsible for washroom cleaning in public and back of house areas.

  • Stays focused in order to be there
  • Delivers an exceptional entertainment experience to internal and external guests to ensure you make their day
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, employees, vendors and regulators
  • Ensures compliance with applicable licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed

Education and Qualifications

  • Embraces the Casino Nova Scotia culture and philosophy and has a playful, infectious and "all about the guest" attitude!
  • Must have the ability to be certified by the Nova Scotia Alcohol & Gaming Division
  • Satisfactory attendance is required
  • Must be able to use industrial machinery such as burnishers, buffers and carpet extractors.
  • Must be able to work backshift
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and procedures an asset
  • WHMIS knowledge an asset
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to prioritise and have strong time management skills
  • Must have excellent guest service skills

Work Environment Considerations

Standing and walking for long periods of time; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending; schedule flexibility is required.
