About the Role
Our projects are diverse and include geotechnical/civil engineering, QA/QC construction monitoring, drill monitoring, geo-environmental monitoring, site investigations, foundation inspections, and soil and concrete lab testing. We work across various industries, from open-pit mining environments to municipal infrastructure projects.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

Lead cutting-edge surveying projects in oil sands mining environments

Work with state-of-the-art technology and equipment in one of the world's largest mining operations

Collaborate with a team of industry experts in the heart of Alberta's energy sector

Location & Work Environment:

Opportunities are primarily based in Fort McMurray.

Fieldwork includes 12-hour shifts (day/night) in various project environments.
Job Responsibilities
-
Lead topographic surveys and as-built documentation for major oil sands operations
-
Execute precise staking of construction areas within active mining environments
-
Develop detailed field notes and implement quality control measures for survey work
-
Collaborate with engineering teams on material placement and design specifications
-
Manage and analyze survey data for accurate modeling and reporting
-
Oversee the maintenance and care of advanced survey equipment and company vehicles
-
Provide critical data for engineering, construction, and mine planning purposes
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant surveying experience in mining or heavy industrial settings
- Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Strong technical abilities in topographic and volumetric surveying
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Physical capability to perform field work (fitness test required)
- Legal authorization to work in Canada on an ongoing basis
- Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software
Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary Diploma in Civil, Mining, or Geomatics Engineering Technology

Previous oil sands or mining industry experience

Experience with GPS, Total Station, and data collectors

Leadership experience in a mining or construction environment

Experience with 3D modeling software
