About the Role

Our projects are diverse and include geotechnical/civil engineering, QA/QC construction monitoring, drill monitoring, geo-environmental monitoring, site investigations, foundation inspections, and soil and concrete lab testing. We work across various industries, from open-pit mining environments to municipal infrastructure projects.

Location & Work Environment:

• Opportunities are primarily based in Fort McMurray.

• Fieldwork includes 12-hour shifts (day/night) in various project environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead topographic surveys and as-built documentation for major oil sands operations

• Execute precise staking of construction areas within active mining environments

• Develop detailed field notes and implement quality control measures for survey work

• Collaborate with engineering teams on material placement and design specifications

• Manage and analyze survey data for accurate modeling and reporting

• Oversee the maintenance and care of advanced survey equipment and company vehicles

• Provide critical data for engineering, construction, and mine planning purposes

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant surveying experience in mining or heavy industrial settings
• Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
• Strong technical abilities in topographic and volumetric surveying
• Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and procedures
• Physical capability to perform field work (fitness test required)
• Legal authorization to work in Canada on an ongoing basis
• Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary Diploma in Civil, Mining, or Geomatics Engineering Technology

• Previous oil sands or mining industry experience

• Experience with GPS, Total Station, and data collectors

• Leadership experience in a mining or construction environment

• Experience with 3D modeling software
