The Role
As a Mobile Field Technician, you operate independently across a regional territory, servicing multiple rental centres and customer job sites. You are the technician customers trust and the expert who keeps the fleet rental-ready.
You will be on the road, in the field, and on active job sites — diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of equipment in real-world conditions, working independently, and representing the company professionally in every interaction. What You’ll Do
Here’s what a typical day involves:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain the fleet
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and small engine issues to maintain rental readiness
Perform preventive maintenance and inspections
Ensure all equipment meets safety and quality standards before returning to rental service
Respond to emergency service calls with urgency
Perform on-site repairs at customer job sites to minimize downtime and protect project timelines
Support rental centre fleet readiness
Rotate across assigned rental centres on a scheduled and as-needed basis to support fleet readiness
Coordinate effectively with rental centre colleagues
Proactively identify equipment requiring significant attention and clearly communicate recommendations
Represent the company in the field
Act as the face of OnSite Rentals’ professional, reliable, and solution-focused approach
Communicate clearly with customers about repair status, expected completion, and next steps
Build trust through responsiveness and consistent follow-through that drives repeat business
Manage your vehicle, tools, and documentation
Maintain your service vehicle, tools, and parts inventory to a high standard
Complete accurate and timely work orders and service documentation using the company’s technology platform
Conduct a daily pre-trip vehicle inspection and maintain compliance with all transportation requirements
Own your safety in the field
Follow all safety protocols and procedures
Handle fuels, fluids, and materials safely and responsibly

What We’re Looking ForYou bring
3+ years of hands-on equipment repair experience in a rental, construction, agriculture, or heavy trades environment
Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and small engine diagnosis and repair
Demonstrated experience with compact construction equipment — mini-excavators, skid steers, trenchers, or similar
Experience with general tools and outdoor power equipment (chainsaws, compactors, generators, pressure washers, etc.)
Ability to diagnose faults and perform repairs independently in the field with limited supervision
Basic computer and mobile device proficiency for work order management and documentation
Valid Ontario driver’s licence (G class minimum) with a clean driver’s abstract
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work comfortably in physically demanding, outdoor, and active job-site environments

Compensation
Hourly Rate: CAD $30 - $40 / hour
Overtime eligible
Commission / Bonus: Tied to OSR location performance and fleet readiness
