Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician (LT) Histology & Cytology provides a professional service in performing laboratory technical and non-technical functions under the supervision of the Laboratory Technologists

Qualifications

  • Certificate from OSMT
  • Graduate of Laboratory Technician training program
  • 6 months experience in a hospital histology laboratory environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the variables that can affect specimen processing
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to foster good team building principles
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and reprioritize with the demands of the job
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment (i.e. stainers, cover slippers, processor, centrifuges, cytospin, etc.)
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail necessary
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of the position
  • Training in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods with appropriate certification
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated problem assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Demonstrated individual leadership skills
