The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled individual to perform laboratory testing of cannabis samples for chemical composition and pathogen diagnostics. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing accurate and timely cannabinoid potency and pathogen screening to support production, quality assurance, and compliance processes. This role involves operating, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory instruments, as well as documenting and analyzing results to ensure the highest product quality standards are met.

Responsibilities:

Testing and Instrument Operation:

  • Collect tissue samples from production and storage spaces.
  • Perform cannabinoid potency testing on fresh or dry plant material, using the Orange Photonics LightLab Cannabis Analyzer.
  • Perform pathogen screening on fresh or dry plant material, using the Agdia Isothermal Fluorometer and Agdia Pathogen ImmunoStrip Tests.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for sample preparation, testing, and result recording.
  • Ensure consistent, accurate, and reproducible test results.

Data Documentation and Reporting:

  • Record and analyze test results in a clear, organized manner.
  • Communicate findings to Plant Performance and Applied Research Manager, and Cultivation Manager.
  • Prepare summary reports for internal use and regulatory compliance, if required.

Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:

  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of the instruments to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic equipment issues; coordinate with Orange Photonics and Agdia support for advanced issues.

Laboratory Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance of the laboratory, as per standard operating procedures.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to all company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in line with local cannabis testing regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience operating laboratory or analytical equipment (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectrometers) preferred.Familiarity with cannabis testing, cultivation, or processing is a plus.
  • Impeccable accuracy to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in data entry and basic computer applications (e.g., Excel).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and protocols.
