An exciting opportunity exists to work in a collaborative inter-professional environment delivering clinical neuropsychology services in one of the best academic health care organizations in Canada dedicated to helping people live to their fullest by minimizing the effects of injury, disease and disability through excellence in care, teaching and research.
This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who wants to work with high performing teams that are focused on rehabilitation and recovery: body, mind, and spirit across populations of adults and seniors, including Veterans care. Specialized services (inpatient and outpatient clinics) include mental health and behavioural health, specialized geriatric services, and rehabilitation (e.g., ABI, SCI, stroke). In addition to improving the lives of individuals, the ideal candidate will advance knowledge and practice while informing program evaluation and health care system improvement.
Using the principles of patient centered care, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care through:
Comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of patients' cognitive, psychological, emotional, and behavioural needs, with diagnosis as appropriate
Development of behavioural treatment plans when appropriate; consultation to services regarding questions of cognitive fu
The candidate will work across various programs at Parkwood Institute, St. Josephs Health Care London, supported by neuro/psychologist colleagues, interdisciplinary team members, psychometrists to deliver timely access to care and treatment.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration as a psychologist at the doctoral level with the College of Psychologists of Ontario; authorized area of practice: Clinical Neuropsychology; authorized client population: adults and seniors
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated neuropsychological assessment, interpretation, and diagnostic skills for individuals with known or suspected neurodegenerative disease, acquired/traumatic brain injury, comorbid medical and/or mental health diagnoses, and other central nervous system dysfunction Demonstrated experience in administering, interpreting, and report writing for a complete range of neuropsychological assessment techniques
- Demonstrated experience working in a goal oriented, evidence based, and outcome-oriented practice Demonstrated superior communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team setting and able to function independently
- Strong collaborative, communication, interpersonal, counseling and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience assessing and managing responsive behaviours in an acquired/traumatic brain injury population
- Clinical experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Knowledge of impact of medical conditions (e.g., cardiovascular disease, delirium) and severe mental illness (e.g., schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder) on cognitive functioning
- Knowledge of program and service evaluation
Teaching and Research
- St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. Immunization Requirements
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID- and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
