ROLE: Strategic Sourcing Specialist (Direct Category)
REPORTS TO: Environmental, Social and Governance Manager
LOCATION: Burnaby, BC
We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our Sourcing Team! Our Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for improving our supply chain through the selection of supply partners for the business in a manner that is cost-efficient, promotes innovation, and minimizes risk. You will be managing categories; sourcing, securing and reviewing vendors; evaluating the cost and quality of goods or services; analyzing data and information related to vendor management; and running projects to deliver business benefits.
OPPORTUNITIES
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the strategic procurement of direct categories such as ingredients and commodities used by the organization. This individual will utilize expert knowledge to develop sourcing strategies to purchase goods and services at the most favorable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers. Travel to internal facilities, supplier facilities and trade shows is required.

EXPERIENCE
- You have at least 5 years or relevant experience working in Procurement (preferably in a similar capacity within the Food & Beverage industry , ingredients and direct categories.
- You have a Post-secondary Degree in Business and/or APICS/SCMP accreditation.
- Knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices.
NICE-TO-HAVE
- Experience with Smartsheet / ERP system (Oracle Netsuite)
- Familiarity with food and beverage packaging systems
THINGS YOU WILL DO…
- Analyze assigned categories (Direct) of purchases
- Conduct market research and prospective supplier interviews
- Identify opportunities for Cost Savings, Value In and Risk Mitigation
- Create strategy; plan, champion, lead and drive projects from ideation through implementation through effective project management
- Support annual budgeting process
- Track successes

- Some flexibility in hours is required based on business needs
- Some travel may be required (internal facilities, trade shows, vendor site visits, etc.)
