Ketek Group Inc:
From its 10 locations in Western and Northern Canada, Ketek is able to provide services and rental equipment to clients throughout the region’s oil and gas, mining, construction, and municipal sectors.
Position Background:
The Purchaser has two main accountabilities. The first is to ensure all departments within Ketek are able to operate by ensuring timely processing of all purchase orders. The second accountability is to ensure Ketek’s spending is not in excess of the necessary by researching and sourcing alternate products and suppliers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Calculate cost of orders and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts
- Process purchases within purchasing authority
- Fill required paperwork and complete/enter purchase orders in Ketek system
- Review and approve purchase order placement for accuracy and optimum delivery and pricing
- Contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries, and other problems
- Meet with vendors to negotiate improved pricing, product quality, and delivery
- Source and obtain price quotations from catalogues, suppliers, and prepare purchase orders
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
- Proactively problem solve issues with Operations groups
Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration or similar
- Minimum 1-year experience in Purchasing
- Fluent in English language
- Strong computer skills
- Able to handle confidential information appropriately
- Able to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
- Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle changing deadlines, fluctuating workloads and multitasking
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and water pumping nomenclature
- Experience with Microsoft Navision will be an asset
Working Condition:
- Office Environment (100%)
- May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Purchasing: 1 year (required)
