Underwriting Assistant 12 Month Contract Toronto- Hybrid (PST WORK HOURS) $25+ Hourly Where you will work Underwriting Assistant in supports the underwriting lifecycle from submission through policy policy issuance by acting as the owner and facilitator of assigned accounts. This role translates broker and client information into clear, complete risk analyses and underwriting packages, and collaborates with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers, and cross-functional partners (e.g., Product, Claims, Risk Control, Compliance) to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant outcomes. The role combines robust analytical and customer service skills with a commitment to data quality, regulatory compliance, and the adoption of AI-enabled tools that enhance efficiency, insights, and customer value. What you will be doing What will your essential responsibilities include? Provide underwriting support for the enabling prudent risk selection and efficient policy administration. Manage end-to-end underwriting activities across submission, review, issuance, and renewal/expiration under Underwriter guidance. Gather, validate, and organize information from Brokers, Clients, Reinsurers, Shared Services, IT, Claims, and Accounting to support risk analysis. Prepare policy documentation (binders, endorsements, regulatory notices) and assist with pricing inputs and coverage structuring, including urgent requests. Maintain accurate electronic files and ensure adherence to audit standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. Monitor workflow across accounts; identify bottlenecks and escalate issues as needed. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality service delivery. Support renewal preparation and ongoing process improvements; participate in testing when applicable. Demonstrate and continuously develop AI acumen by utilizing and adopting approved AI and automation tools to enhance underwriting support processes, improve customer outcomes, increase efficiency, and contribute to continuous process improvement. Data Governance and Control: Manages multiple aspects of data management, ensuring accurate and secure information flow throughout the (re)insurance value chain.
