Program Description: Strong Food – Cooking & Nutrition

Strong Food – Cooking & Nutrition is the perfect opportunity for children to learn how to be fantastic cooks and healthy-minded eaters for life! Each week focuses on a different recipe, with a unique theme. Students learn cooking techniques such as prepping, timing, proper heat maintenance, balancing flavors, and plating.

Alongside cooking skills, students are introduced to nutritional principles, building a strong understanding of healthy eating habits. Recipes put a nutritious twist on everyone’s favorite foods—think healthy pasta and gourmet cookies made with wholesome ingredients!

Classes emphasize safety first, teaching students to cook responsibly with prevention techniques and cut-safe tools and equipment.

Position Overview: Cooking Afterschool Instructor

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated instructor to lead our Strong Food – Cooking & Nutrition afterschool program. If you love cooking, enjoy working with kids, and are passionate about teaching healthy eating habits, this is the role for you!

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead engaging cooking classes for elementary and middle school students
  • Teach fundamental cooking techniques and food preparation skills
  • Share nutritional knowledge and encourage healthy eating habits
  • Foster a fun, supportive, and safe environment for students to explore cooking
  • Prepare and organize ingredients, tools, and equipment before each session; clean up after sessions
  • Reinforce kitchen safety, including the use of cut-safe tools and proper handling of equipment
  • Track attendance and provide brief reports as needed

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in cooking, culinary arts, or nutrition (teaching experience with children is an asset)
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen safety and healthy food practices
  • Energetic, patient, and creative teaching style
  • Ability to manage a classroom and adapt lessons to different student levels
  • Passion for food, nutrition, and inspiring kids to enjoy healthy cooking

Compensation:

Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications. TAC Sports welcomes applications from people with disabilities and will provide accommodation upon request as required by law.
