#The Role
This position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, managing inventory, assisting clients in selecting appropriate products, and maintaining a welcoming and professional store environment for customers, staff, and volunteers. The role also supports online sales operations, monitors performance indicators, and uses available data to help improve the store’s efficiency, sustainability, and overall contribution to the shelter’s financial health.
#Key Roles & Responsibilities
##Customer Service and Sales
- Provide friendly, professional, and compassionate customer service to all customers, visitors, volunteers, and donors in person, by phone, and by email.
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate products, including helping with sizing items such as collars and harnesses.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints with patience and professionalism, using de-escalation when required.
- Process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges accurately and promote store promotions and special offers.
##Store Operations and Merchandising
- Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming retail environment, including stocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and assisting with routine cleaning tasks.
- Support merchandising initiatives by setting up product displays, seasonal promotions, and maintaining visually appealing store layouts.
- Receive, sort, price, and track inventory, complete inventory counts, and report discrepancies to the manager.
- Supervise and support department-specific volunteers while coordinating workflows and daily tasks.
##Administration and Online Store Support
- Support store administration by creating promotions, coordinating special orders, responding to customer communications, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with online store operations, including updating products, managing inventory, and supporting promotions.
- Collaborate with Communications and Marketing on monthly promotions and participate in Bingo’s-related events such as MADE for Pets and Pets in the Park.
- Ensure shipments are received properly and complete additional projects or other duties as assigned.
#Education & Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a retail or customer service environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet applications.
- Comfortable interacting with and handling animals of various species and temperaments.
- General knowledge of, or previous experience working with, animals is considered an asset.
- A valid driver’s license is considered an asset.

An ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and interact effectively with a diverse range of customers. They are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks while working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate has an understanding of merchandising, uses analytical thinking to prioritize work and support process improvements, and can assess and respond appropriately to challenging or crisis situations while remaining calm, empathetic, and professional.

##Compensation & Benefits
The Bingo’s Retail Representative is classified in Pay Band 2, with a pay range of $17.84–$23.1per hour, commensurate with the successful candidate’s education and experience.
