About the role

Purpose: The Database Analyst role provides primary support for the Centre for Career Design's suite of online platforms and databases. Duties include system customization, troubleshooting complex user access issues, system reporting and diagnosis, configuration, and providing guidance to team members contributing to the efficient and effective use of various technologies' core features. The role extracts and visualizes data across platforms and databases for internal and external reporting purposes, as well as assists with the creation and dissemination of student and corporate partner Net Promoter Score (NPS) surveys.

Education: University Degree in related field, preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems or Business Administration or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience either developing or supporting database maintenance and implementation. Experience in data analysis and related application tools in a business office/results-oriented service environment. Experience managing and maintaining software-based information management tools (complex databases) is essential.

Skills:

Strong organizational skills. Able to effectively prioritize multiple and complex assignments and projects with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work independently to complete assignments and projects as per defined timelines while collaborating effectively as a team member.
Effective customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with all people while obtaining and providing information.
Ability to safeguard sensitive and confidential data.
Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.
Ability to interpret, develop, and diagram data models.
Ability to program, configure, manage, and maintain the operation of complex relational databases.
Highly proficient in the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
Familiar with a wide cross-section of computer hardware, operating systems, and software.
