Role Description The Operations Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Mississauga, ON, responsible for coordinating daily freight forwarding and logistics activities. This role includes managing air, ocean, and ground shipment bookings, tracking and tracing cargo, and ensuring on-time delivery across international trade lanes. The Operations Specialist will prepare and verify shipping documentation, support customs clearance processes, and maintain accurate records in internal systems. They will communicate daily with carriers, agents, warehouses, and customers to resolve operational issues, optimize routing, and manage service expectations. The role also supports continuous process improvements, collaborates with sales and account management teams, and contributes to efficient, cost-effective supply chain operations. Qualifications Strong analytical skills to interpret shipment data, optimize routes, and support problem-solving in daily operations. Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, carriers, agents, and internal teams in a clear and professional manner. Sales awareness and customer-service mindset to support account growth, respond to inquiries, and contribute to customer retention. Operations management and project management skills to coordinate multiple shipments, manage timelines, and handle end-to-end logistics tasks. Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain is preferred, especially in international air and ocean cargo. Proficiency with logistics or transportation management systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is an asset.
