About the role
Mold Maker - Automotive - Days - Afternoons - Nights
We are seeking skilled Mold Makers to join our Client's dynamic team in an automotive production environment.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong background in precision machining, troubleshooting, and mold maintenance.
You will be responsible for supporting the production shift, repairing and modifying complex molds, and ensuring the highest quality standards for our tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Machining & Assembly: Operate and program a range of toolroom equipment, including CNC machines, sink/wire EDMs, and manual lathes/mills, to machine components to tight tolerances and high surface finishes.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair new and existing molds, working with large compression molds, direct injection molds, hot runner systems, and robotic end-of-arm tooling.
- Technical Expertise: Read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents to modify and repair molds from sketches and samples. Apply a strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and cooling systems associated with molds.
- Proactive Maintenance: Perform a combination of preventative and predictive maintenance on tooling to ensure optimal performance and minimize production downtime.
- Technical Communication: Provide clear communication and accurate technical feedback to team leaders and other shifts on production-related issues.
Qualifications
- Certification: You must hold a Certificate of Qualification as a Mold Maker and a Tool and Die Maker Certificate of Qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of related experience in an automotive production environment is required.
Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of CNC equipment and programming.
- Proficiency with sink/wire EDMs and TIG welding.
- Familiarity with CAD Modelling software: like Mastercam, SolidWorks, ESPRIT, and Inventor.
- A good understanding of mathematical concepts (geometry, trigonometry, etc.).
Personal Attributes: A self-starter with excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be available to work midnight shifts and overtime as required.
