Role Description
Become a Caredara™ Companion by supporting seniors in your community while gaining real-world experience. The Caredara™ Companion Program invites students across Ontario to join a Care Ready Network that helps seniors stay connected, supported, and safe at home. As a Companion, you’ll provide non-medical support and companionship while building meaningful experience that strengthens your resume and gives back to your community.
Whether you are studying health sciences, social work, psychology, nursing, education, or any other field, the experience of supporting seniors can be incredibly rewarding.
*Note: Caredara™ Companions do not provide medical or personal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Friendly, supportive assistance that helps seniors remain engaged and comfortable in their homes.
Examples of companion activities:
Meal Preparation
- Helping prepare simple meals
- Supporting safe food preparation
Activities & Engagement
- Conversation and companionship
- Games, reading, or hobbies
- Cognitive engagement activities
Community & Outings
- Walks in the neighbourhood
- Accompaniment to appointments
- Local community activities
Light Support Tasks
- Basic tidying
- Helping organize daily items
Safety Check-Ins
- Friendly visits to ensure seniors are doing well
- Alerting families if concerns arise
Social & Emotional Support
- Providing meaningful companionship
- Reducing isolation and loneliness
Qualifications
Required:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university in Ontario
- Provide a valid Student ID
- Submit a current resume
- Provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Indicate availability for potential activations
Preferred:
- Currently enrolled in a program such as Nursing, Kinesiology, Social Work, Public Health, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Gerontology , or a related discipline. -Students from all programs who are interested in health, caregiving, aging, or community support are encouraged to apply.
Work Details
-Flexible scheduling
- choose your own schedule to fit around your classes -$21 per hour when activated -Location: opportunities available in multiple locations across Ontario. Students can work within their local city, eliminating the need for personal transportation. -Benefits: Gain hands-on experience supporting seniors, contribute to community wellbeing, build valuable interpersonal and caregiving skills, add meaningful experience to their resume and professional development -Start date: Rolling start dates available. Students who are interested in joining the Caredara™ Companion network can complete the interest form. After submitting the form, you will receive instructions on how to set up the app and continue the onboarding process.
