Customer Service/Sales Assistant
Temporary Part-Time
(Up to 24 hours per week; must be available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends)

We are currently seeking a Temporary Part-Time Customer Service/Sales Assistant to join our Retail team. Under the direction of the Sales and Operations Manager, Retail, the incumbent will deliver outstanding customer service to the customers of the AGO retail operations and processes all transactions through the point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
The rate of pay for this position is $22.59 - $28.25 per hour.
What is this position responsible for?
- Provides customer service by responding to all customer inquiries and assisting in selection of appropriate merchandise by utilizing comprehensive product knowledge and effective selling skills. Contributes to the sales of the store through effective use of add on sales during the purchase transaction and through knowledge of the store merchandise.
- Accurately processes sales through the point-of-sale (POS) system, wraps and packages purchases for customers according to established store standards. Processes specialized transactions for members and staff discounts, customer returns and merchandise promotions in accordance with policies, procedures and standards set for the store.
- Cleans and stocks shelves, displays and cash desk. Ensures all available and appropriate merchandise is represented on the selling floor and that the store is maintained according to the merchandising standards that have been set. Ensures that all areas of the store are clean, and that merchandise is properly ticketed. Moves merchandise to/from shelves and display cases on sales floor. Ensures all shop packaging supplies are stocked in the back room. Communicates to Sales Coordinator or Sales Manager when more supplies are required. Assists in the storewide preparations for seasonal or sales promotions and annual physical inventory, as directed by the Sales Manager or Sales Coordinator.
What are we looking for?
- Some years’ experience of working in retail sales.
- Demonstrated selling skills and ability to share product knowledge appropriately with customers.
- Demonstrated experience working with customers in a retail environment.
- Strong commitment to outstanding customer service, professional attitude and appearance.
- Good verbal, reading and written communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate a pump truck.
- Demonstrated knowledge of store merchandise and retail store operations; use of applicable computer software; experience working and assisting with on going training and product knowledge for volunteers and fellow staff.
- Ability to take direction, follow through, and show initiative in the areas of restocking merchandising and customer service; maintain visual standards in the shop.
- Strong commitment to loss prevention practices.
- Demonstrated retail math skills.
