As an Industry Relations Strategist, you will play a strategic and cross-functional role within the Infrastructure Services department, leading external collaboration and relationship management with industry associations and infrastructure asset owners. You will assist in the implementation of the Industry Relations Strategy, develop and implement relationship management plans, support advocacy efforts, and coordinate responses to emerging issues and trends that affect infrastructure delivery. Primary duties include:

  • Develop, maintain and support strategic relationships with assigned external partners, including industry associations and infrastructure owners.
  • Build and execute tailored relationship management strategies with assigned external partners and support the internal relationship sponsors and owners.
  • Lead strategic communications and engagement efforts to strengthen relationships between The City and industry partners, ensuring transparency, alignment, and shared success in infrastructure delivery.
  • Identify and address cross-corporate issues and risks, conduct research on emerging trends and technologies, and support strategic planning efforts.
  • Keep an issues and decisions log, contribute to annual reports, and prepare briefing notes and updates for senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Public Administration, Business, Communications, Economics, Planning, Political Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, and at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, policy development, or strategic communications.
  • Experience in relationship management and event management are essential.
  • The successful candidate will possess business and political acumen, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous assignments with autonomy.

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $47.01 - 62.84 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
