Staff Accountant (Mississauga or Edmonton location)
Role Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting activities across all US businesses ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely completion of key accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including recording transactions in journals and posting to ledgers and reconciling trial balance accounts
- Prepare and deliver financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Core Accounting Areas involvement
- Cash and banking activities
- International accounts receivable
- Accounts payable
- Inventory accounting
- Fixed assets accounting
Fixed Assets and Leases
- Support capital asset accounting, including additions and disposals and depreciation calculations and journal entries
- Contract administration
Financial Planning: partner with the Country Financial Director to support
forecasting and budgeting and financial analysis
Operations & Collaboration
- Support cross-functional finance activities, including AP, AR, banking, month-end close, and reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
Controls & Compliance

Maintain documentation of procedures and internal controls

Perform internal audit procedures as requested

Ensure compliance with safety policies and required training

Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Public accounting experience is an asset
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of IFRS (fundamental knowledge required; advanced is a plus)
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (required)
Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organization and time management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Job Conditions
- Job Location: Ammega Canada Inc. - Mississauga OR Edmonton location.
- Days of work: Monday to Friday - Hybrid work.
- Salary: $62k to $72k CAD annually (depending on profile & relevant experience)
