About the role

Reporting to the Fleet Coordinator, the Heavy Equipment Technician (Mechanic) plays a crucial role in inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty equipment and commercial vehicles. This position requires strong mechanical knowledge, commitment to quality work, and adherence to safety standards. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, the ability to work independently or in a team, and a willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

-          Strictly follow all Health and Safety protocols

-          Understand and demonstrate competence in company policies and procedures applicable to the position

-          Inspect, diagnose, and repair construction equipment including heavy commercial trucks with various attachments (cranes, buckets, diggers), trailers, excavators, loaders, and skid steers.

-          Conduct preventative maintenance and identify potential failures to prevent equipment downtime

-          Interpret and complete work orders efficiently

-          Utilize diagrams and manufacturers’ repair manuals to perform repairs accurately

-          Update and maintain service records and complete warranty information

-          Maintain a clean and organized workspace by completing daily housekeeping tasks

-          Maintain a neat and organized work area

-          Report on unsafe equipment or hazardous spills

-          Displays our company core values. Treats other team members with courtesy and respect

-          Maintain adequate supplies at workstations

-          Quick learner; follows directions adequately

Requirements

-          Journeyman ticket or enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of a Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice Program. Red Seal certification is an asset but not required

-          Must have personal toolbox and tools

-          Physically fit and capable of handling heavy equipment repairs

-          Strong written and verbal communication skills

-          Comfortable using computers and related software

-          Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset)

-          Team player attitude with the willingness to help others throughout the day

-          Must be able to pass pre-employment D&A testing
