Position Description
As a member of a patient care team, you will provide transportation service for patients, supplies and equipment throughout the Hospital in a timely, efficient and orderly manner. Using your strong communication and problem-solving skills along with your flexibility will enable you to adjust service and work priorities. You will promote and maintain a high standard of safety and customer service.
Shifts: Friday, Saturday & Stat. Holiday 11:00pm- 7:00am in Transport Pool.
Although this posting indicates an initial area of assignment and shift, the Hospital reserves the right to assign to other areas of assignment and shifts as deemed necessary.
Here's what you'll get to do
-
Process calls through the transport system accurately, including dispatching and completing all calls via mobile device, pagers or two-way radio.

Responsible for the safe, efficient and timely transportation and delivery of patients, supplies and equipment throughout the Hospital:
-
Practicing proper Infection Prevention Control methods, including blood and body fluid precautions at all times.
-
Transporting patients throughout the hospital, ensuring safety precautions are taken to avoid any exposures or risk to patients or self.
-
Ensuring that any patient equipment that is required of the patient during transport, such as monitors, IVs, etc, are safely transported so not to disrupt patient care.
-
Ensure transports are done accurately and timely based on service request and demands in order to ensure no delay in patient care/service.
-
Ensure any specimen deliveries are done safely and accurately to labs and other patient care areas.
-
Ensure discrete, professionalism and sensitivity are maintained during patient transports to the morgue.
-
Pick up patient equipment that has been left behind and not returned such as wheelchairs in the parking garage and other areas of the hospital and deliver back to the Transport department.
-
Pick up re-useable instruments in the blue boxes on each unit/clinic for deliver to Central Services for sterilization.
-
Pick up and deliver Stores and Central service items throughout the hospital based on clinical and operational needs, during Stores Receiving non-operational service hours.
-
Communicate changing work priorities with co-workers to ensure the efficient operations and service needs.
-
Carry emergency pager and immediately respond by delivering the CODE BLUE CART with IVAC promptly to the site of the initiated code.
-
Maintain safe and clean environment.
-
Assist with training new staff within the department.
-
Prepare, deliver and exchange linen carts and any additional linen requests from customers.

Participate in quality management and educational programs.
Here's what you'll need

High School Diploma or equivalent.
-
3 to 6 months hospital related experience.
-
Good communication and interpersonal skills, good problem-solving abilities and flexibility.
-
Ability to work both as a member of a team and independently.
-
Must have verbal and written fluency in English.
-
Strong customer service orientation.
-
Ability to work in a fast paced, physically demanding environment.
