JOB SUMMARY:
Looking for a Microsoft Azure suite Application Developer/Solution Architect to be part of an agile, creative and innovative team focused on usability, accessibility and end-user engagement. SaskPower is recruiting for the role of Nuclear Business Technology Specialist (App Dev/SA) to contribute to the setup and operations of Nuclear Information Technology. This role is accountable to provide full stack application development in Microsoft Azure, assist with design, documentation, and subject matter expertise as part of a DevOps team in our IT division. We are responsible for the technology landscape of SaskNuclear. As a member of SaskPower’s out of scope team, this position is responsible to act as a leader and central point of contact, providing expert advice and direction.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Plan, research, develop, evaluate, and implement processes, policies and procedures utilized for the strategies and initiatives related to Microsoft Azure Application Development and design.
- Act as a subject matter expert in full stack application development and support,
- Adherence to SaskPower standards including security, accessibility, brand, code, and architecture
- Adherence to regulatory requirements and standards such as cybersecurity, WCAG 2.1
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for automated deployments
- Apply Azure Policy, RBAC and security best practices to ensure compliance and governance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Azure application development, deployments and configurations
- Work with DevOps, security and architecture teams to define and maintain applications
- Maintain version control and changes using Git repositories in Azure DevOps
- Optimize for performance, cost efficiency (FinOps), and reliability
- Document application configurations, standards and best practices
- Represent the department and prepare and present material to internal and external audiences as required
- Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices related to area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower’s operational environment
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or other related equivalent AND/OR;
- Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
- Five (5) years of related application development / solution architecture experience, preferably including web application design and related technologies such as:
- .NET, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, node.js
- Microsoft Azure and Docker (CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, Kubernetes, containerized infrastructure)
- Heavily integrated environments using microservice architecture and headless API architecture
- Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
- Innovative and results oriented thinker, with the ability to lead and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
- Excellent analytical, research, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work and adapt in a changing environment
- Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
- Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies
- Must have a continuing record of professional development
