About Us
The Office of the Registrar is dedicated to helping our students achieve their academic goals by providing to the Western community an array of integrated student-related services in a confidential and professional environment. The Recruitment and Communications team, within the Office of the Registrar aims to provide the Best Student Experience to prospective students from the initial point of interest in undergraduate programs at Western, through the information gathering, application processes and continue to provide best experience in their student journey at Western.
Responsibilities
The Student Ambassador will:
- Connect with students (via phone, video call, email, text or social media) and answer any questions they have regarding their faculty/programs, student life or personal experiences
- Support the social media coordinators with their strategy and content planning for the fall
- Write blog posts and articles
- Research and propose new ways to engage incoming students
- Assist with virtual and in-person events and also in other administrative duties in the office as needed
Qualifications
Education:
- Must be a full time student at Western (enrolled in minimum 3.5 courses), and expect to retain full-time student status for the duration of this appointment
Experience:
- Student experience such as involvement in clubs, extracurriculars, sports, Scholar’s Electives,International experiences, groups in which you identify, etc.
- Personal or Professional experience in social media posts, campaigns, accounts would be preferred
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude, with genuine customer service orientation
- Comfortable using Zoom, Unibuddy, Instagram, Facebook and social media platforms
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver information in a clear and positive manner
- Professional and enthusiastic, with the ability and desire to promote Western
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with others in a professional, respectful and diplomaticmanner
- Passionate with the ability to provide a positive first impression and be an ambassador for Western
- Write creative and engaging posts
- Write creative and concise blogs and articles
- Strategic thinker who can understand the audience needs in order to create a social media contentcalendar
- Ability to relate well to students and their parents
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a high stress environment
- Proven attention to detail, efficient and well-organized
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
