Human Resources Advisor-Staffing

Salary range: $$90,727 to $109,090

Location: 1580 West Broadway at Granville (This position is not hybrid or work from home) Benefits: Pension Plan, Vancouver Employee Savings Plan, Extended Health, Dental, Group Life, Long Term Disability, Paid Sick leave, Vacation, Gratuity, Bonus supplemental vacation and potential compensatory time.

Education And Experience A degree in a Human Resources focused program plus 5 years of experience in progressive Human Resources roles. Experience in a large public sector, multi union environment preferred.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding organizational skills, strong attention to details and the ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, professionalism and the requirement of maintaining confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and coach management staff on HR related matters
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels
  • Forward thinker with demonstrated initiative and problem solving abilities
  • Able to confidently make decisions, building credibility and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with a track record for implementing and delivering on objectives
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Excellent MS Office Skills (Word and Excel) and advanced technical abilities to manipulate complex data to produce a variety of reports
  • Good research skills and the ability to compile and summarize information received
  • Adept with PeopleSoft (e.g.: building queries)

Responsibilities

  • Reports to Director of Staffing and HR Manager: assists in the full spectrum of staffing functions including: contract renewals, performance appraisals, assignments, layoff and recall, post and fill, etc.
  • Delivers a variety of high level HR related functions and supports and oversees the coordination of HR administrative related activities
  • Provides guidance, advice and information to management staff in regards to a variety of HR programs and initiatives including recruitment and selection, employee development, performance and succession planning, policies, practices, interpretation of collective agreements and other staffing related issues in our multi-unionized environment
  • Participates in various Joint committees
  • Develops job postings, conducts interviews for internal postings and assists with recruitment during peak recruitment periods
  • Participates and assists with implementation of PeopleSoft updates; performs necessary data clean up, corrections as required
  • Ensures, through leading other HR staff, that HR processes are being effectively completed
  • Investigates and processes timesheets
  • Maintains employee files/records both manually and via PeopleSoft
  • Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned
