We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Floater - Classroom Therapy Aide (CTA) to join our Early Childhood Services (ECS) team. If you are passionate about helping young children thrive in a supportive, inclusive learning environment, we’d love to meet you!
Position Summary
The Classroom Therapy Aide works closely with the Certified Teacher and the multidisciplinary team to support children ages 2½ to 6 years in both our Multidisciplinary and Speech & Language Enhancement Programs. You will help implement Individual Program Plans (IPPs), create engaging learning opportunities, and foster children’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
This position requires enthusiasm, patience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to creating a positive, nurturing classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Certified Teacher in delivering daily lesson plans and activities (circle time, crafts, play centres, etc.)
- Implement strategies outlined in children’s IPPs under the guidance of the teacher and therapy team
- Encourage and support children’s participation in activities, fostering independence and skill development
- Assist with documentation, data collection, and progress tracking as directed
- Collaborate with therapists, families, and other team members to meet program goals
- Assist with self-help skills as needed (toileting/diapering)
- Participate in planning meetings, field trips, and special events
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment in line with Alberta Education, Accreditation, and Health & Safety standards
Qualifications
- Certificate/Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Disability Studies, Educational Assistant, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Experience working with young children; experience with children with special needs is highly recommended
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain shortly after hire)
- Recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check
