The Role
Reporting to the Team Lead, Software Developer, we are seeking a Software Tester to join our Toronto-based team. This hybrid role requires working from the Seequent Toronto office two days per week.
The Software Tester plays an important role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cloud and mobile software platforms. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and product managers, you will help deliver high-quality solutions and exceptional user experiences. This role involves designing and executing test plans, identifying and tracking defects, and contributing to continuous improvement of testing processes and tools.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Collaborate with product managers and developers to understand requirements and testing needs.
- Design test plans and develop clear, reusable test cases based on user stories.
- Execute manual and automated test suites for cloud and mobile applications.
- Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira.
- Work closely with development teams to diagnose issues and verify bug fixes.
- Perform regression testing to ensure new features do not impact existing functionality.
- Support performance, load, and scalability testing of cloud-based solutions.
- Participate in sprint meetings and retrospectives to improve QA processes.
- Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new testing tools and methodologies.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance, including SaaS applications.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and QA methodologies.
- Experience with test case management and bug tracking tools such as Jira.
- Familiarity with testing APIs and web services (e.g., Postman or similar tools).
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for test automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, agile team environment.
- Passion for technology and delivering high-quality software.
