About Our Opportunity

The Risk and Intelligence Analyst will report to the Manager of Safety and Security Investigations Unit (SSIU) and is responsible for collecting, evaluating and analyzing intelligence data collected from SSIU staff, other Provincial and Federal enforcement agencies, professional sources, open sources, and external clients.

As a Risk and Intelligence Analyst, you will conduct threat and risk management assessments and establish risk management strategies designed to deter or proactively mitigate threats to  the government of Nova Scotia. You will prepare intelligence briefs with respect to acute risks, which will provide guidance to senior management.

In this role, you will use a variety of risk management frameworks in making systematic assessments.  Your analysis of data will be instrumental in providing recommendations relating to resource allocation and the monitoring and management of high-risk threats to public safety.

You will also do scheduling and provide support for Government Enforcement Agents.

Qualifications and Experience

This position requires a university degree in a related field (Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an analytical field.  An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Our successful candidate will have experience using standard research and reporting tools, methodologies and processes.  You will also have experience with policy, research evaluation frameworks and statistical methodologies.   The ability to clarify problems and issues is necessary in this role, as well as analytical, research and evaluation skills.

The Risk and Intelligence Analyst is responsible for completing briefing notes, report submissions and presentations to senior management.  As such, communication and presentation experience are required.

The following knowledge, experience and training is considered an asset:

  • Work experience with law enforcement and justice agencies, or a related law enforcement analytical field; and/or
  • Formal threat or risk assessment training.

Working Conditions

Travel maybe required within the province, and occasionally out of province.

Additional Information

The successful candidate will be required to pass security clearances required by the Department to work with other law enforcement agencies.
