The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research- intensive, distributed learning environment, where tomorrow's physicians, dentists and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry is the largest Faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,500 staff.
The Department of Family Medicine specializes in training comprehensive family physicians and future leaders in family medicine. This is done through a highly adaptable program that includes tailor-made curriculum and educational programs for residents.
The Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (CSFM) is an interdisciplinary team of investigators, research, and administrative staff recognized nationally and internationally as leaders in family medicine and primary health care research. The CSFM's research is based on the principles of patient-centred care, and takes place in three contexts: clinical care; the community; and the health care system.
Responsibilities
The Grant Support Assistant supports several research faculty members and the Director of the CSFM.
Key responsibilities of the Position:
- Maintain multiple CVs for faculty members and CSFM director, including Acuity Star, CIHR Common CV; updating ORCID
- Prepare presentations, correspondence, reports, speeches, manuscripts/publications, other documents
- Manage electronic and paper files; photocopying, scanning and faxing
- Submit conference registrations and book travel arrangements
- Prepare expense claims
Qualifications
Education: 2 years Community College, Diploma in Office Administration/Business; degree preferred
Experience:
2 years of administrative experience in an academic or business setting with proven knowledge of office management procedures
1 year of experience in a research setting preferred
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint (drafting/editing/formatting slide presentations), Outlook, Adobe Pro
- Experience with Acuity Star and CIHR Common CV and ability to update these CVs
- Experience booking travel arrangements and preparing expense reports
- Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively in a team environment
- Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
