Senior Mechanical Engineer - Heat Transfer Equipment

Purpose We are currently looking for a Senior Heat Transfer Engineer to join our team in Calgary. This position will support engineering activities for Heat Transfer Equipment on projects, by directing project execution activities and deliverable creation for one larger or several smaller projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare / check specifications, material requisition, bid evaluations and award recommendations for heat exchangers and fired equipment, including Fired Process Heaters, Utility Boilers, OTSGs, HRSGs and WHRUs.
- Simulate and evaluate heat exchanger and fired heater performance using tools such as HTRI, FRNC-5, or equivalent industry standard software
- Conduct site visits to operational facilities and participate in in-person meetings on location.
- Manage and review vendor documentation for compliance and accuracy.
- Represent a single point of contact with the vendors for engineering activities
- Ensure compliance of fuel burning appliances and systems to safety codes like CSA B149.3 and NFPA for new installations. Lead CSA B149.3 certification activities for existing fired equipment
- Coordinate project requirements with other disciplines, project staff and clients.
- Maintain quality deliverables throughout the procurement of the equipment.
- Support work share activities with overseas offices on deliverables related to Heat Transfer Equipment.
- Develop/support hour estimation, TIC estimates, deliverable requirements, and personnel loading for scope of the project pertinent to Heat Transfer Equipment
- Support or fill-in for the Mechanical lead as requested
What You Will Bring Technical and Industry Experience:
- Experience in refinery, carbon capture and utilization, gas processing, green/blue hydrogen, unconventional oil
- Excellent knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted office procedures.
- Extensive and relevant equipment experience in Oil and Gas facilities
- Working knowledge of thermal and mechanical design of heat transfer equipment
- Broad knowledge of electrical systems and process controls
- Knowledge of relevant ASME and API codes
- Experience in field installation /commissioning and performance testing of heat transfer equipment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA
Required Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- BS or MS in Mechanical (or Chemical) Engineering with extensive heat transfer equipment experience in Oil and Gas Facilities
