The Opportunity

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to expand our strong Community and Resort Development team. This team is dedicated to creating places that bring joy in the Canadian Rockies and the Calgary region. Our current portfolio includes visitor accommodation, ski resorts, multi-family sites, commercial developments, subdivisions, and remote, boutique lodging. We have projects in Canmore, Banff National Park, Kananaskis, Fernie, Revelstoke and a host of other amazing places.

In this role, you will lead projects in the planning, design, and execution of municipal infrastructure and land development. You’ll oversee project delivery from concept through construction, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff. This position is ideal for someone ready to step into a key role with opportunities for leadership advancement.

This position offers the flexibility to report to either our Calgary or Canmore office and supports a hybrid work schedule. We prefer that the successful candidate be willing to travel to the Canmore or Calgary office 2-4 times per month to promote strong bonds with the team, though you're always welcome to come in more often.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist the Branch Manager and Division Manager in business development activities for community and resort development projects and cross-sell a host of other services that McElhanney provides.
  • Lead the proposal, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects including municipal infrastructure and land development.
  • Serve as a key client-facing representative of McElhanney, building strong relationships, upholding the firm’s reputation, and consistently delivering excellence in service and communication
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, scope, and quality assurance.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with clients, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and subconsultants in a number of different municipalities.
  • Provide technical mentorship and support to EITs and junior technologists.
  • Ensure projects comply with all applicable codes, standards, and guidelines.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution preferred. Candidates with engineering technology diplomas will also be considered.
  • Registered P.Eng. with APEGA or eligible for registration in AB preferred. Candidates that are EITs or engineering technologists will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, primarily in consulting.
  • Proven ability to attract/retain clients, win projects, and deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
  • Focus on efficiency and the use of new technologies to improve workflows.
  • Familiar with construction specifications, tenders and procurement, is an asset.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a track record of successful delivery.
  • Strong leadership, learning mindset, knowledge sharing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with contracts and developers is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, construction, and permitting.

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
