Position Summary
The Director of Emergency Response Planning (ERP) Operations oversees the successful execution of all ERP-related projects and deliverables within H2Safety. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this role ensures that ERP programs are efficiently managed from initiation through completion—on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role emphasizes the strategic leadership and development of people—ensuring the ERP team operates with clear accountability, ongoing performance evaluation, and a structured approach to talent growth and succession planning across all levels of the department.
The Director leads the ERP delivery function, providing strategic oversight and day-to-day management of the Client Relationship Management (CRM) team and all operational processes that support ERP execution. This individual acts as the central coordinator ensuring projects flow seamlessly across internal support functions—such as technical services, data and mapping, training, and field operations—so that each component aligns toward the successful delivery of comprehensive ERP programs.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead, manage, and mentor the ERP project delivery team, including all CRMs.
- Maintain oversight of all active ERP projects to ensure they are delivered according to schedule, budget, and defined scope.
- Implement standardized project management frameworks, reporting tools, and communication channels to drive consistency and visibility across all ERP work.
- Anticipate project risks, constraints, and dependencies, and proactively work with internal teams to resolve issues.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the ERP delivery function.
- Conduct regular performance reviews for all direct reports, ensuring individual goals align with departmental and corporate objectives.
- Lead succession planning to identify and develop future leaders within the ERP Services group.
- Ensure each Client Relationship Manager maintains a structured program outline for their clients that demonstrates a strategic progression of H2Safety’s service offerings over time.
- Promote professional growth through coaching, mentorship, and competency development plans for all ERP team members.
Project & Resource Coordination
- Act as the operational integrator ensuring that all work streams and supporting teams contribute effectively to ERP delivery.
- Coordinate resource allocation, scheduling, and project prioritization across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal technical and service departments to align workloads, resolve bottlenecks, and maintain delivery momentum.
- Lead regular production and planning meetings to review progress, identify challenges, and confirm next steps across teams.
- Maintain visibility into project pipelines and capacity planning to ensure sustainable operations.
Financial & Performance Management
- Monitor project budgets, margins, and resourcing to maintain profitability and delivery efficiency.
- Collaborate with Finance and senior management to support accurate forecasting, billing, and cost control.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure ERP operational success and identify areas for optimization.
- Hold team members accountable for meeting defined performance metrics and maintaining transparent reporting on progress toward strategic objectives.
- Use performance data to drive development discussions and identify opportunities for efficiency and growth.
- Provide input to business planning and financial modelling for ERP growth and service improvements.
Process Optimization & System Improvement
- Champion the continuous improvement of ERP delivery processes, tools, and templates.
- Streamline project intake, handoff, and closeout procedures to reduce inefficiencies and improve turnaround times.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to identify and implement system enhancements and workflow automations that improve performance, accuracy, and scalability.
- Integrate lessons learned from completed projects into standardized best practices.
Client & Stakeholder Management

Support CRMs in ensuring effective client communication, transparency, and satisfaction throughout project delivery.

Serve as an escalation point for operational challenges requiring executive visibility or resolution.

Represent the ERP operations function in internal strategy sessions and external client engagements when required.

Required Education, Experience & Credentials

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field (MBA or PMP certification is an asset).

Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in project or operations management within a professional services or technical environment.

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex, multi-phase projects successfully.

Strong experience in implementing project management methodologies and performance tracking systems.

Demonstrated success in operational optimization, workflow design, and team leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional organizational, coordination, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership with the ability to motivate teams and foster cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven capability in coaching, mentoring, and conducting structured performance evaluations.
- Demonstrated experience in succession planning, staff development, and building cohesive teams focused on continuous improvement and client value growth.
- Advanced understanding of project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
- Financial literacy related to budgeting, forecasting, and margin management.
- Proficiency in project management and reporting software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Power BI, or similar).
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and make data-driven decisions.
