What would my role be?
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, and under the guidance of the senior preventive maintenance technician, you will:
-
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of patient care equipment, appliances, and other mechanical and refrigeration equipment.
-
Act as first responder to troubleshoot and repair various non-HVAC building components outside regular business hours.
How do I qualify?
Required:
-
Two (2) year community college diploma from a recognized institution or apprenticeship program in a relevant field such as Building Maintenance, HVAC & Refrigeration
-
Minimum of three (3) years of years of diversified work experience in the maintenance of buildings and equipment, preferably in a hospital environment
Preferred:
-
Valid Ontario or Inter-provincial license in a trade related to building maintenance
-
Fluent in French and English
What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

Able to perform activities requiring considerable standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling/pushing and transferring equipment and material
-
Able to demonstrate respect, patience and compassion toward patients and residents
-
Able to work in a team environment
-
Able to understand forms and reports when working from blueprints or specifications
-
Strong visual acuity for reading blueprints and working with small parts
-
Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment
-
Able to work with little supervision and to exercise independent decision making and judgement in the performance of all duties

Able to work safely and effectively with maintenance tools and equipment
-
Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Basic computer skills
